Atomica

Here is another game from PopCap Games (the first one was Dynomite). No, they didn’t pay me for promotion or something. They just make really remarkable games. (Hey, PopCap guys, you owe me!)

Atomica is sci-fi puzzle based on old concept.

The goal is to create molecules by moving atoms around the game grid. A molecule is 4 atoms of the same color arranged in a 2x2 square. When you complete a molecule it disappears from the board, getting sucked down into the Vortex.

New 3 atoms will appear every time you move and do not complete a molecule. When you can no longer make any moves, the game will end.

There are a number of bonuses to make the game full of surprises, such as: atomic bomb (destroys a number of random atoms), 5 different types of bonus molecules, chromium atoms (use them as wildcards), biohazards (replicating molecules), bonus rounds (such as «radiation round» when you have to remove all the atoms from the fields) and so on.

You have 2 game modes to choose from: strategy (turn-based, i.e. you made a turn and then new atoms appear) and action (real-time madness).

The game is shareware; you have to pay $19.95 to remove the nag screen and to enable saving and loading game as well as highscores.

I wish I could give it 6 eyes award, but I couldn’t. So I give Atomica only 5 eyes. It’s the highest award I have.

There are 2 reasons to try this game: graphics and sound. Just check it out yourself. Man, this game really kicks ass!
